Howard Park and Lisa Miceli

Learn to develop the unique atmosphere and spirit of a scene through effective use of color and value. Explore how colorists use color contrast and color balance to create daring and vivid works of art. Create landscapes that are tonal and moody or vibrant with sunlit areas and shadows with dimension and color.

In this class, students will learn to use the color wheel as a completely different tool, gain an understanding of the use of analogous and complementary colors, and see color as value.  Students will learn to design a custom color wheel to help create signature colors to reflect their own unique vision of the landscape.  Painting with these signature colors will allow students to use color more effectively to achieve a sense of light and atmosphere in the artwork.

Five-week series

Tuesdays, 9am – 12pm
