Howard Park and Lisa Miceli
Deciding when a painting is done is one of the most difficult challenges faced by artists, whether they are abstract artists, Impressionists, or realists. Many painters struggle to understand when to step back from a painting and end up either overworking it or leaving out crucial changes that can improve it. This class will help students develop the confidence to understand when a pleasing balance of value, color and design has been achieved, and when the narrative of the painting is complete. The ability to step back from a painting and evaluate how to bring it to another level can help create captivating images. The class will include demonstrations, individual instruction, painting exercises, and daily feedback with the group, to develop students’ ability to decide when a painting is done. This class is open to all mediums.
