This class will take you beyond basic pastel methods and techniques, to the next step. Working with a variety of materials, create unique surfaces for pastel paintings. Work with under washes and learn to manipulate materials to achieve distinctive effects.
Topics that will be covered in the course:
- Creating surfaces using modeling paste, Matt gel medium, gesso with pumice, textural spray.
- Use of liquid fixative.
- Washes for underpainting.
- Use of monotype as a starting point.
- Advanced pastel techniques.
