Patterned Popsicle Sticks

Patterned Popsicle Sticks

Objective:
Experiment with patterns and create a fun and decorative piece of art! This project works well as a collaborative project that the whole family can get involved in.
Materials:

  • Popsicle Sticks (or anything you have at home that’s comparable. (Paint can stirrers or simple paper or cardboard cut into strips also works)
  • Markers or Paint Pens if you have them (Sharpies work best)
  • Glue
  • A frame or other study surface for displaying

Instructions:
See how many different patterns you can make using markers on your wooden sticks (or paper strips). Think polka dots, zigzags, hearts, waves, stripes, bubbles, etc… Use different color combinations. Try to stick with the theme of simple patterning rather than drawing a picture of something (likely there isn’t enough space for that if using popsicle sticks).

Glue the finished pieces down on a surface in an interesting way .(They can be placed in a pattern of horizontal and vertical).
