Janice DiBattista Allen: Friend, Artist and Teacher

The public is invited to attend a celebration of life service for Mystic Museum of Art artist and friend Janice DiBattista Allen on Friday, April 26 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Ram Island Yacht Club in Noank, Connecticut.
Allen, who passed away on March 6, 2013, will be remembered by Mystic Museum of Art as a person whose kindness and passion for art enabled others to share in her joy for artistic expression. Allen donated the printing press in Mystic Museum of Art’s studio, enabling MMoA to offer lessons in printmaking to students.
Allen exhibited her work throughout the region since the late seventies. She worked in acrylics, watercolors and mixed media and was often influenced by nature: the images, patterns, shapes and colors inspired by the natural world are often common themes in her work.
A member of Mystic Museum of Art since 1997, Allen submitted her work to and won awards at numerous MMoA exhibitions including the annual Members Show, Photo Show and Regional Exhibitions.
Allen was a member of several local art organizations including; Connecticut Watercolor Society, Connecticut Woman Artists, Lyme Art Association, Essex Art Association and the Connecticut Academy of Fine Art among others.
Allen was a special woman, who will be missed by many. She lives on in our hearts and in the work she shared with the world.
