Hundreds Support Art and Art Education at MMoA Annual Gala

Over two-hundred guests dined, danced, and bid generously on live and silent auction items to support art and art education and to honor Irene and Charles Hamm at Mystic Museum of Art’s Night at the Museum summer gala, held under the tent and in the Museum galleries on June 10.

Crucial funds were also raised to preserve and restore holdings in the Museum’s permanent collection, which includes notable works by Charles Davis, Henry Ward Ranger, Robert Brackman, and numerous others key in Mystic’s art legacy. The evening included music by Rock and Soul Revue and dinner by A Thyme To Cook.

Guests were greeted by live topiary and an interior magically transformed by A Gala Affair. Irene and Charles Hamm, noted art collectors and active supporters of many area organizations, were the inaugural recipients of the Anthony and Alexandra Halsey Award. Lastly, nationally-recognized marine artist Russ Kramer created a live painting of the evening, which was then sold during the live auction along with a limited-edition set of prints.

The Museum is grateful to all those who contributed to the event, which will have a profound and lasting value in MMoA’s efforts to serve as a community and cultural resource through its exhibitions, courses, and programs.
