Those who collect art love it and understand it, from a very personal perspective. The MMoA Collectors Roundtable is an opportunity to share that passion and knowledge!

Provenance is the ownership history of a work of art, useful in determining the piece’s authenticity and value. If you purchase something directly from the artist, this history is easy to trace. Traditional auction houses will do this research for you. But what happens with artwork or items you find secondhand, or online? How can we do our due diligence to make sure a piece is what it claims to be? How do we learn more about it?

On August 6, special guest and local collector Jonathan C. Sproul will share research advice and examples of some of the paintings in his collection, and what he discovered about them.
